Samoan Weaving Head Quarters (SWHQ) provides a unique and engaging creative hub for the community. Located at the heart of Parramatta and run by Maureen Unasa, SWHQ offers one of kind handmade masterpieces, through traditional weaving practises.
Using raw materials such as pandanus and raffia, artists/weavers Maureen Unasa and Angela Paikea specialise in contemporary hand made products such as jewellery, wall hangings, frames, wedding decorations and so much more!
SWHQ strongly believes in engaging the community by building bridges and weaving communities together. As a social enterprise we thrive on community support whether it is through our many weaving workshops, customer relationships or through our association with wonderful community initiatives such as The 1 Million Stars Project and Global Sisters.
As part of SWHQ’s mission to lead a sustainable ecofriendly organisation, we make it our mission to source natural products where possible and to create items that have little or no negative impact to our environment. We also love to upcycle everything! Maureen and Angela have quickly developed a fabulous little niche for up cycling everything from old bags to unused jewellery with clever weaving!
