Bullet proofing SUCCESS is totally S.M.A.R.T.

Failure or Success are both SMART results. Being smart is using S.M.A.R.T. to trace and learn from either result.

Being S.M.A.R.T. to initially set-up, review and re-set my goals is like using it as a guide or a road map to direct me and point out what is and is not working for me. It is a great learning process for future endeavours.

Reviewing and resetting is essential for S.M.A.R.T. goals

Specific: Is it precise, detailed or to the point? Eg; Weave 11cm x 2m each day.

Measurable: How will I know I achieved the result? Eg; Weaving 11cm x 2m takes 7 hours to do. If I do that then I will complete the last 75cm length that I need to finish the fine mat.

Achievable: Can I do that with my resources? Eg; I can weave 3.5 hours in the morning and at night. I have plenty of ribbon. I have family support too.

Realistic: Have all other every day responsibilities been identified? Eg; I can find 7 hours in my day to weave allowing time for household duties, administration, children and special occasions. I have the help of my family to make it work.

Time-framed: Have I DATED my goal to keep track and be ACCOUNTABLE. Eg; 31 August 2012 is the unveiling of the art project. I have a timeline to track all the other components of the art project.

Failing in the past was like the biggest self bashing drama in my world. I did not learn until later that failing at something was all part of the learning process. It was good even though it may not have felt that way. If I had just known about the S.M.A.R.T. process, I wouldn’t have thought I was a loser.

The S.M.A.R.T. process simplifies situations for me now. I don’t beat myself up. Instead I look at my situation or circumstances from the view of “being responsible” for the results.

Being responsible is reviewing and re-setting what I want to achieve based on the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines.
I review the results for my gold ribbon fine mat at the end of each day to ensure a successful result.

I review it alongside the overall art project timeline and check whether it is a workable plan based on the S.M.A.R.T. road map.

Adjusting plan using the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines

You can have, do and be anything you want in your life. You just need to START with some sort of plan and WORK on it using the simple S.M.A.R.T. road map.

The only failure is not giving something a go because then you will never know either way.

Give it a go and have loads of FUN FUN FUN while you’re at it.
